Google has had auto suggest on their site for a couple of years. You may have noticed it when you went to search for something either as part of your search engine optimisation UK strategy or for personal reasons. Every time you type something in Google offers you a way to finish out the word. As you continue to type Google finds the information that most fits. To a degree Yahoo has also followed in the footsteps of Google.
Bing just made an announcement in January that they too would be moving towards Auto Suggest. They have had the option since the revamping of their search engine, but now they are to offer updates. They are working very hard to make the auto suggest more effective in what it will offer. At the moment Bing has a report that 45 percent of queries are resulting in re-queries or abandonment of the search. They figure the best way to get past this is to offer a better Auto Suggest that gets the person the words they want. It will even show correct spellings to help individuals with spelling issues. This will help to get the right queries the first time around for users.
